Zosia Mamet Bio

Zosia Mamet was born on February 2, 1988 in Randolph, Vermont. Zosia's name is pronounced Za-sha. And although Mamet may not have been allowed to watch television while growing up, the talented "Girls" star  was no stranger to the world of acting, even before she was born.
Mamet’s maternal grandfather, Russel Crouse, was the co-writer of America’s most timeless musicals such as “The Sound of Music” and “Anything Goes,” and her mother performed onstage while pregnant with her daughter.

Zosia was never a huge fan of spending time while sitting down in the classroom, as she attended a very strict elementary school accompanied by nuns and uncomfortable uniforms. Growing up backstage and on movie sets caused the “Girls” star to fall further in love with the magic of film and to view school as a system blocking the start of her life and career.

Other than her character on the hit television series “Girls,” Mamet proves to be well rounded in her acting talents as she has also appeared on “Mad Men” and even as a troubled college girl on Broadway’s “Really, Really.” During a revealing article with the New York Post, fans learned that Mamet has a spunky, free spirit personality.

Unlike her character on “Girls,” Mamet appears to be comfortable in her own skin; using some strong language, she is quick to mention her dislike for school and is proud to talk about the tattoo engraved on her arm in the shape of a family seal. As Mamet goes on to inquire about the subject of dating, female fans can appreciate her candidness in admitting that she’d rather read a good book. She comments that dating in today’s world can often be sloppy and uncomfortable. An honest and clever statement, considering Mamet’s strong female fan base that will most likely find the young star comforting and relatable.
